A Community United Through Play: 2025 Day of Play Highlights

On April 16, during DCPS Spring Break, the Fields at RFK Campus were buzzing with energy for the fourth annual Day of Play, hosted by Events DC. What started as a simple day of fun has grown into a favorite community tradition—and this year definitely delivered.

Families filled CareFirst Field (formerly Field 2) and the RFK Pavilion, enjoying a packed lineup of activities like soccer, basketball, street hockey, horseback riding, face painting, and more. Local vendors and organizations added to the fun with food, music, and free resources. “This event was good for the community—we had the opportunity to come together and enjoy,” said one attendee. And that’s exactly what Day of Play is all about: bringing people together through play, movement, and good vibes.

Go Play was proud to be in the mix! We loved chatting with families at our booth and spreading the word about our Youth Sports for All (YSFA) program. Several families signed up on the spot, helping even more kids access free, high-quality sports opportunities in Wards 5, 6, 7, and 8. More than just a fun day out, Day of Play was a reminder of how powerful—and necessary—accessible recreation is. It builds community, sparks joy, and gives every kid a chance to get in the game.
